Skippy Says: Please Don't Hate Me (OOTD)

I have a confession to make that might bet me booed straight out of fashion blogdom. I don't like animal print. Nope, not leopard print or tiger print or even zebra print. Yes, Stacy and Clinton, I get that leopard is a neutral. And I even accept that it's fabulous. But as fabulous as it is on others, it's just not me. 

And as long as I'm getting stuff off my chest, I'll also confess that I don't like faux fur. Or real fur. There, I said it. Please don't hate me. I'm a people pleaser, which means I don't do too well with being hated. I've only not gotten along with people a handful of times in my life, and it led to many sleepless nights. And lest you think it's a coincidence I posted this on a Friday, it's not. I figure I should give you guys the weekend to calm down after hearing such news.

Skippy Says: If At First You Don't Succeed (OOTD)

I had grand plan for this past Saturday-- a chili cookoff in beautiful Sausalito. I got up, dressed, had Ryan take photos of my little outfit, and off we went.

Just one little problem stood in our way. Turns out the cookoff was Sunday, not Saturday. Ryan consoled me by taking me out to a yummy Thai place for lunch, and undefeated I went home ready to try again the next day. Except since we live in the Bay Area where the weather is slightly bipolar, the warm and sunny Saturday turned to a gray and rainy Sunday. So I kept the top I was going to wear, but changed the rest.

I look super mysterious because I'm hiding a surprise inside my trenchcoat. Tada!

The cookoff was a lot of fun even though I couldn't eat almost anything there-- most all the chilis were made with either beef or pork, and I don't eat either. There was one vegetarian option though, so I didn't leave totally empty-bellied.

I also did some spying around on the competition, since I plan to enter next year with my (soon to be) famous pulled chicken white bean chili. Plus, there was a fun band with a very stylish lead singer. Clearly he knew capes were going to be big this fall.

Skippy Says: Coffee and Beer (OOTD)

Does anyone else remember that Simpson's episode where Marge is trying to order a coffee but the guy only wants to sell her beer? It goes a little something like this:

Marge: I'll just have a cup of coffee.
Bartender: Beer it is.
Marge: No, I said coffee.
Bartender: Beer.
Marge: Cof-fee.
Bartender: Be-er.
Marge: (spells) C-O...
Bartender: (spells) B-E...


No, just me?

Anyway, my last few days have been filled with much coffee and beer (and wine and rum). That, and lots of under eye concealer. One of my closest friends from England is visiting and I'm determined to show her a good time while she's here. It's all part of my evil plan to get her to move out here. This outfit is one I wore one of the days she was here--I figured it could transition pretty well from day to night and that way we didn't have to go home to change between sightseeing, dinner, and drinks.
