Skippy Says: It's Time (OOTD)

I bet you're wondering why I've been wearing my hair up so much lately when I usually only wear it down. Come on, you know you have. You can't possibly have better things to do with your time other that sit around and ponder my hair styling decisions. Truth is, I need a haircut. Like, really really need one. I only cut my hair twice a year or so, but I've let it go far too long this time. Split ends abound. But I don't just want to cut it on any old day-- I hate getting a haircut and having it look all cute only to come home, sleep on it, and have it look blah again the next day without anyone seeing it in its full recently cut and styled glory. I don't know how much longer I can hold out though. Maybe Ryan will plan a surprise date night for the day I schedule the cut? Wink wink, nudge nudge.

Skippy Says: Thank You? Thank you. Thank you! (OOTD)

I don't take compliments well. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like them. It's just that I just don't know how to graciously accept them. Instead, I end up being one of those really annoying people who argues with you when you try to compliment me. You like my hair? WRONG, it's ugly. That's a yummy dinner I cooked? Eh, no, I've made better. I think the problem is that the compliment means so much to me that I don't know how to adequately express my gratitude. So I choose to be an asshole instead. I'm working on it. Here's step 1.

In that spirit, I'd like to thank (and not argue with) Sam and Cara for awarding me the "Kreativ Blogger" award. Their blogs are awesome, and you should absolutely check them out if you haven't already!

Rules: Link back to the person who passed you the award, complete the form below, award 10 blogs,
and drop them a line about it.

Share 7 random things about yourself:
1. I love pretty much all mammals. A little too much. I want to adopt every puppy and kitten on the planet, and one day I'd love to own a monkey and a tiger. Ryan is interested in politics, so we made an agreement that if he is ever president, I get to own a tiger.
2. Related to #1 above, half of our engagement photo shoot was done in a petting zoo in SF. Best.Idea.Ever. Toot toot.
3. I was born in Russia and lived in a little village there until we moved to San Francisco when I was 6 years old. It was tiny, and we even used to get milk from our neighbor's cow from across the street. Ryan makes fun of me for being a country bumpkin sometimes :)
4. I went to an all women's college (Wellesley) where I studied Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences. I knew it had nothing to do with the career I wanted to pursue in the future, but I loved Linguistics.
5. I was a total drama geek in high school and dreamed of being an actress. Not on TV or anything, but in theatre. I'm still sad I gave theatre up, and I hope to one day have it back in my life.
6. I couldn't cook anything except toast until junior year in college. Studying abroad in Scotland was expensive, so eating out wasn't an option and I forced myself to learn to cook. Now it's one of my favorite hobbies.
7. I can't sing. At all. My friends say I sound like a croaking frog. Ouch.

Now, to pass the award on to 10 bloggers I'd like to learn a bit more about! In no particular order...

And now...on to today's outfit!

Skippy Says: Gifted (OOTD)

I have a very special gift, a talent of epic proportions. I can take any situation, big or small, and find a way to stress out about it. It doesn't matter how fun the situation actually is, I WILL find a way to worry. Family coming over for dinner? I'm scared they won't like what I cooked. A barbecue with friends? I'm stressed about the dynamics of how different friend groups will get along. Guests visiting from out of town? I'm terrified I won't show them a good enough time. Catch my drift? I truly feel sorry for my unborn children. Good lord, I'm going to be one annoying nag of a mom. Hopefully I can distract them and deflect with my green jeans and bright tops. If they take after me, they'll be easily distracted by bright and shiny things.

Skippy Says: Helpful Tips (OOTD)

I have to apologize for the particularly poor quality of the photos today. Not that the photos I post are ever really stellar (sorry babe, I love you for trying) but today's batch is particularly, um... what's a euphemism for bad? You see, I decided to take an evening class at the gym, and by the time I got out it was late. And nearly dark. And we had to run to catch the ferry. So we snapped a photo here and there along the way and a few aboard the ferry before night completely descended, but we weren't working under the best conditions. Plus I was feeling a bit stressed since my husband kept giving me helpful tips like "don't smily so dorky" and "do something that looks better." What a charmer. Oh, and you're welcome for the free tips ladies.

He was right though. I was having a dorky smiling night. See exhibit A below:

Oh yeah, that's attractive. Let's try again:

And as an apology for the bad photos today, I leave you with a few photos (ha!) of my beautiful city enveloped in fog as we take off on the ferry.
