My BFF has a theory on why so many Jews and Catholics end up in romantic relationships-- both cultures share a love of guilt. Whether it's guilting people or being guilted by them, my parents taught me well. And if you think the guilting stops after you've grown up, you'd be wrong. Why just today, my papa told me how the amount of stress he's under due to my vegetarianism and choosing to work with a midwife rather than an OBGYN for my pregnancy is going to send him to an early grave. And as a good Jewish girl, I let the guilt of the stress I'm causing him eat away at me all day. I mean, since I don't plan on changing either of those decisions, feeling guilty about it is the least I could, right? Love you papa.

Skippy Says: Valentine's Day (OOTD)
This past Saturday Ryan and I celebrated a late Valentine's day together. Since I was in Israel on the actual day, and since this was our last Valentine's day with just the two of us before baby comes, I didn't want to just skip it altogether. I mean, do you see me as the kind of gal to give up any opportunity for flowers and chocolate? Speaking of which, Ryan, I'm still waiting for my flowers and chocolate.
The weather was beautiful, and we woke up bright and early to head to the Calistoga mineral pools and hot springs spa. There were 4 pools: a big one heated up to 80 degrees, a slightly smaller one at around 100 degrees, a hot tub at 104 degrees, and a kiddie pool. I stuck with the first two, since I've read that pregnant women should avoid hot tubs and I got kicked out of the kiddie pool. Pshhhh. Of course, Ryan punished me for abandoning him on Valentin's day by going into the hot tub while I stared longingly. Again, Ryan, I'm still waiting for my flowers and chocolate.

Skippy Says: Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes (OOTD)
Seeing as my wardrobe choices are pretty limited these days (read: I only fit into stretchy items) you'll probably be seeing this dress a lot. It's one of, oh I don't know, 5 things left that I can squeeze myself into. You'd think there's an easy fix to this, but for once in my life I'm having a hard time motivating myself to go shopping. This is partly because I'm still getting used to the changes I'm seeing in the mirror, and partly because I know I'll only be getting bigger so it seems like a waste of money. But you know what knows no size? Jewelry. And scarves. And hats. What's that I was saying about having no motivation to shop?

See part 1 here, part 2 here, part 3 here, and part 4 here!
Let's finish up remix week with something bright and fun, shall we? As you guys know, I'm not afraid of a little color (although somesilly people argue that sometimes I should have a little more fear to avoid looking like a box of crayons). But bright yellow, orange, red, and cobalt blue isn't too much, is it? I didn't think so.

Skippy Says: This Is The Remix Edition: Part 4 (OOTD)
See part 1 here, part 2 here, and part 3 here!
Are you guys getting sick of seeing this jacket yet? I mean, I warned you I'd be remixing the blouse, but it seems that the jacket has also somehow made its way into my outfits nearly every day. It's just that I was on the hunt for a jacket like this for so long that now that I've finally got one, I can't seem to stop my hands from reaching for it. I tried to use my left one to slap the right one away as it went for the hanger with this jacket on it yet again, but then I just looked silly in a room alone with my hands battling each other, so I gave in.

Skippy Says: This Is The Remix Edition: Part 3 (OOTD)
See part 1 here and part 2 here!
I know red and yellow is a big no-no because of that whole Ronald McDonald thing, but I figured since I also have the big, red, curly hair I might as well truly embrace it and go all out. Amiright? I always wanted to be a superhero, and since I'm a wimp that's never going to happen, so this is probably as close as I'm ever going to get. Clowns count as superheros, right?

Skippy Says: This Is The Remix Edition: Part I (OOTD)
Don't worry, I know what you're thinking, and I got a much cleaner remix edition for you guys than the title of this post implies. It involves pretty Anthropologie blouses and absolutely no urine whatsoever. For those who are disappointed by that, just stay tuned for next week. I kid. I think.
I got many beautiful presents for my birthday, and among them was a lovely yellow Anthropologie blouse from my auntie. I immediately fell in love with the subtle feminine detailing on the blouse, and started dreaming up various outfits I could make with it. Since I couldn't settle on just one, the idea of the remix week was born. Every day this week, I'll feature a different outfit centered around the same blouse. I may be smelly by the end of it, but gosh darn it I'm committed.

Skippy Says: Travel Uniform (OOTD)
Internet, meet my comfy traveling outfit. Comfy traveling outfit, internet. Since we're making the four hour drive up to Tahoe tonight, I chose big used to be big but now fit just right thanks to the holidays jeans and a cozy sweater. Hey, I work with what I got. And I don't got any more jeans that are big on me. Hopefully we'll do some hiking in Tahoe to help out with that little problem. Though I'll be sure to compensate with extra mugs of hot cocoa to balance it all out.

Skippy Says: My Weakness (OOTD)
Have you guys ever tried Costco pizza? I swear it's amazing. Don't judge. Yes, it thick and greasy and probably way too cheesy for anyone's good, but man I hold a soft spot in my heart for that pizza. Let's not talk about the soft belly it's giving me, ok? Yesterday, Ryan and I decided to spend part of our day off by going to Target. Because, you know, we're wild like that. And there just happened to be a Costco next door, and it just happened to be right around lunch time, and...I sort of blacked out after that. All I know is that there was a lot of delicious pizza eating involved. Since we were already there, we decided to pick up some paper towels as well. On our way out, the guy at the door raised his eyebrow and asked: "you came in all the way here just for that?" And then I had to hang my head in shame and admit that no, we actually came in for the pizza. And then Ryan said I probably shouldn't admit that to people. And there I go again. Ooops.
