Skippy Says: New Friends (OOTD)

Last week was a big one for me-- I had my first ever blog friend meet up. Does it make me a dork to admit that was the highlight of my week? Oh well-- you probably knew that already.

When Megan was in town for the holidays, I made good on my threats and kidnapped her to go thrifting with me. Quite honestly, I was sort of surprised she was willing to meet up, especially after I admitted that I bite. Yes, you read that right. I emailed her telling her I was  a bit nervous, and she sweetly replied that she was too, but that I shouldn't worry because she doesn't bite. And then something possessed me to admit to her that I do. You see, I have this problem with being a little too honest sometimes. And sometimes, no, often, I show my affection by little nibbles. In fact, one of my friend's families refers to me as "the biter." And for some unknown reason, I felt the need to share this with her. Thankfully, Megan was a total trooper and was willing to meet up anyway. We had such a wonderful afternoon together, and I can't wait for her to come back so we can do it again.

Ok, so, while it may be kind of kitschy to wear an umbrella printed dress in the rain, sometimes a girl has to give in to her inner kitsch. Amiright? And kitsch tends to be a weakness of mine. Right up there along with stupid puns. I'm sorry, but I love stupid puns. Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was awesome! Eh? Eh? I wonder how many followers I'll lose with that one...

Skippy Says: Fall Back (OOTD)

I don't know about you guys, but this time change is really messing with my head. You'd think after 25 years of life I'd be used to it, but not so much. I associate darkness with sleepytime, which is kind of a problem when it gets dark by 5:00 pm. I can't have sleepytime at 5:00 pm, especially when I can't say no to doing things. That would make for a very unproductive Skippy. But not indulging in my desire for sleepytime makes for a very cranky Skippy. And a cranky Skippy makes the life of those around her, um, unpleasant. Let's just say I'm only smiling in these photos because it's still light out.

Skippy Says: Reach For The Stars (OOTD)

Today, I start my first day nannying. For a three week old baby. You guys, she is so so tiny that I'm absolutely terrified of breaking her. During my interview when her parents asked how I planned to spend my day with her I truthfully answered "trying to keep her alive." I think they appreciated the honesty. Also, I basically made out with their dog and pointed them in the direction of the best sushi restaurant in the Bay Area so I think that also got me some brownie points. Mmmmm brownies.

And don't you worry, this is not the outfit I'm wearing for my first day only to get pooped on. I'm thinking something a little more casual and a lot more brown.

Skippy Says: This Dog's Life (OOTD)

Let me preface this post with the following. I LOVE my dog. A lot. That's actually a huge understatement. As my friends and family will attest to, I'm absolutely crazy about him. I mean, c'mon, look at this sweet little face:

And don't even get me started on his cute little butt, especially when he splays out like this:

Because I love him so much, Ryder has a pretty darn good doggy life. He gets a couple hours of exercise every single day. His kibble is made of salmon and sweet potato so that what goes in his belly is both nutritious and delicious. I even buy him doggy fish oil! I don't buy fish oil supplements for myself, but Ryder gets two capsules every. single. day. And despite all that, for some reason, Ryder boy here is the sickliest dog on the planet. He just constantly has something wrong with him-- ear infections, mites, allergies, hygromas-- you name it, he's had it. You know what that means don't you? We are constantly paying ridiculous vet bills. We're talking hundreds of dollars every month here people. And you know what that means? I can't afford anything off my wishlist. Recently another trip to the vet diagnosed him with an ear infection along with ongoing allergies and resulted in yet another $350 bill. I was not amused. Ryder owes me a new fall coat and the jeans I actually wanted instead of the cheaper ones I settled on. 

Since after that little expense it looks like I'm not getting anything off my wishlist for a while, I'll be working with what I already have. Which is a good thing, because really truly I have plenty to work with. Maybe I'll even join Kendi on her next 30 for 30 challenge?

Skippy Says: Can't We All Just Get Along? (OOTD)

Ladies, let's talk pattern mixing. I hear it's all the rage these days, and I've been dabbling in it for a few months now. I've tried polka dots with stripes, printed animals (not to be confused with animal print) with geometric motifs, and florals with both stripes and splotchy food stained shirts. Today, I went a little wild and paired zebras with giraffes (stupid pun intended. I love stupid puns). And I happen to think they got along famously.
