Skippy Says: This Is The Remix Edition: Part 2 (OOTD)

See part 1 here!

Today, pretty yellow blouse meets slightly-too-tight-man-I-really-should-not-have-skipped-the-gym-today white jeans. Ryan has proclaimed this to be his favorite outfit I've ever worn on the blog. Notice it's also probably the most boring simple. Which is why I've learned not to take offense when he turns his nose up at 90% of what I wear. My style is clearly just way too cool for him to comprehend.

Skippy Says: This Is The Remix Edition: Part I (OOTD)

Don't worry, I know what you're thinking, and I got a much cleaner remix edition for you guys than the title of this post implies. It involves pretty Anthropologie blouses and absolutely no urine whatsoever. For those who are disappointed by that, just stay tuned for next week. I kid. I think.

I got many beautiful presents for my birthday, and among them was a lovely yellow Anthropologie blouse from my auntie. I immediately fell in love with the subtle feminine detailing on the blouse, and started dreaming up various outfits I could make with it. Since I couldn't settle on just one, the idea of the remix week was born. Every day this week, I'll feature a different outfit centered around the same blouse. I may be smelly by the end of it, but gosh darn it I'm committed.

Skippy Says: Grand Plans (OOTD)

This weekend, Ryan and I met with an architect to start preparing plans for the house we bought. Oh, sorry, did I not mention that before? Um, yeah, we bought a house. It actually happened this past May, and closing was two days before my law school finals started. What can I say? Timing is not my thang. Although we bought the house about 6 months ago, we haven't been able to move in because we had to give the tenants that lived there time to vacate. They'll be moving out December 15th though, which means we can start gutting and renovating. Wheeeeeeee.

The architect is planning to survey and measure our house this coming week, so we wanted to give him an idea of what we want it to look like and some non-negotiables for us. Ok, me. Like a big walk-in-closet in the master. Where else am I gonna put all this crap stuff I bought on Black Friday?

Skippy Says: That's What Friends Are For (OOTD)

So you remember my BFF Alisa I told you about? Well, one thing I didn't tell you was that Alisa and I like to eat together. A lot. Oh wait, I did. But not the extent of it. You see, in high school, Alisa and I were hungry little monsters. We would regularly eat the packed lunches our parents made for us, and then head down to the cafeteria to wash them down with a piece of pizza or bag of chips. What? We were growing girls. Maybe not vertically growing, but growing nonetheless. One particularly hungry afternoon, we got home from school and ordered a large pizza. And then we ate it all while watching MTV's Dismissed. Can I get a yeah yeah from someone else who watched that deliciously trashy show? Please? Anywho, knowing Alisa's mom was going to be home to feed us dinner in about an hour, and knowing she'd be livid that we already ate, we quickly got rid of the pizza box in a neighbor's trash and then returned home only to eat a second dinner about an hour later. It was an impressive feat. Alisa, I hope you mama doesn't read this blog or we'll have some splainin' to do.

You shouldn't be surprised, then, to hear that our date a few weekends ago started out with some brunch. After our bellies were nice and full, we headed over the the San Francisco ThreadShow, which is a showcase of emerging local designers and artists. It was the funnest, girliest day we've had in a while. And productive too-- I managed to add a few pieces to my pathetically small jewelry collection.

Skippy Says: Black Friday 2011 (OOTD)

Alright friends, I've held you in suspense long enough. I know you all haven't been able to sleep wondering how my first ever Black Friday shopping experience went. Don't worry, you'll finally be able to rest easy tonight.

So, basically, in a nutshell, it was a.w.e.s.o.m.e. The night before was less awesome-- my tummy hurt from eating too much food. Specifically mashed potatoes. And maybe that extra last piece of pie. I had my alarm set to 5:00 am, but woke up at 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 4:15, and 4:30 before I finally resigned myself and got up. Not a good start to the day. But then, oh then, I arrived at Anthropologie. Because you know their extra 50% off all sale items is what got my butt in gear to finally do Black Friday. And I scored so many awesome things that all the tummy aches and lack of sleep didn't matter anymore. Like this blouse. This amazingly beautiful, 100% silk blouse, for $30. Yeah baby. That's what I'm talkin' about.

p.s.- I have decided not to do a big post with all my Black Friday finds because I think that would be rather overwhelming. Let's just say Ryan had to come to the rescue midway through to help me carry bags. Instead, I'll note at the bottom of my post if something was a Black Friday find and how much it cost. Kapisch?

Skippy Says: Fall Back (OOTD)

I don't know about you guys, but this time change is really messing with my head. You'd think after 25 years of life I'd be used to it, but not so much. I associate darkness with sleepytime, which is kind of a problem when it gets dark by 5:00 pm. I can't have sleepytime at 5:00 pm, especially when I can't say no to doing things. That would make for a very unproductive Skippy. But not indulging in my desire for sleepytime makes for a very cranky Skippy. And a cranky Skippy makes the life of those around her, um, unpleasant. Let's just say I'm only smiling in these photos because it's still light out.

Skippy Says: Sayanara Suckas (OOTD)

I'm outie. Well, technically I'm an innie. But I'm heading outie to visit one of my best friends in the whole wide world in Austin, TX for the rest of this week and through the beginning of the following one. But don't despair (I know, I flatter myself) -- I got some guests posts from some of my very favorite bloggers set up for your entertaining pleasure while I'm away. I'm not sure how much I'll be be able to reply to comments or read other blogs while I'm there since I want to soak up every minute of spending time with her that I can get, but I'll do my best to not totally disappear. Otherwise, I'll be back next Tuesday, November 8th. Guest posts start tomorrow, so be sure to check back for some of my favorite gals!

Skippy Says: Extra Hot (OOTD)

True story: I used to think ketchup was spicy until I was in eighth grade. Yes, as in Heintz. Also, I hated soda because the bubbles "hurt my tongue." What? I was a wussy child. Nowadays, I'm a wussy adult, but no longer when it comes to food. I eat raw jalapeños and habeñeros by the fistful, dump cayenne pepper and chili powder into 90% of my dishes, and make sure to order my food "Indian person spicy, not white person spicy" when eating out at my favorite Indian joints. Sorry if you think that's racist, but nobody takes a small white girl's spice needs seriously unless drastic measures are taken.

One of my best friends is dating an Indian guy right now, and I've challenged him to "spicy-off" next time he comes to visit San Francisco. So if a few months from now I'm absent for a while, no worries, it's probably because I'm in the hospital. I.Will.Not.Lose. I plan on wearing this jacket to our little event because I think it makes me look kinda badass, and I need all the badass look I can get. Which means I might have to forego the ruffly dress. Damn.
