Happy New Year friends! I had a rather, uh, interesting celebration. I went to a 1920's themed house party which was more of a blast from the past than I had anticipated even given the theme. As in, my boyfriend from when I was like 15 years old happened to be there. And I had to spend more time than I care to admit trying to convince him that I really was over the fact that he dumped me 11 years ago in order to date another girl, and that I was happily married now. No, really, I kid you not. I'll spare you some of the other interactions with my gentlemen callers of the very distant past, but suffice it to say there was a lot of awkward hand-waving from across the room. Despite all that, I got to spend the night with my wonderful husband and closest friends, and I couldn't be more thankful. So many of my friends who are nearest and dearest to my heart gathered from all over the country (NY, Austin, Iowa City) so that we could celebrate together, and getting to give them each a tight squeeze once the New Year rang in made me so excited for what's in store. Here's to the best year yet!

ReplyDeleteYou look sooo happy here & the dress is just so beautiful on you - love it!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year :)
You look gorgeous, I love your dress. It sounds as though you had a lovely time for New Years Eve, apart from the awkward blast from the past! xo
ReplyDeletehahaha...yes, it can be rather awkward with old boyfriends and high school reunions. Thankfully, I went to an all girls school so our catch ups tend to be about kids and husbands. Happy New Year to you and your hubby.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh you look great! LOOOOVE that dress :)

Cute outfit! It's so great that you got to spend NYE with your nearest and dearest :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous dress and headband! A 1920's themed party sounds fantastic! And what is it about highschool ex's that makes them think they were your one and only true love?! I have sooooo been there!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you looked so stinking cute!! Seriously, that dress is stunning, I love the headpiece, and this looks like it was such a fun time. Love that first picture. How awkward that you ran into an old boyfriend! haha!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely gorgeous!!! Love your dress and as always - your hair!
ReplyDeletetoo funny about the ex boyfriend! you look amazing in that dress!!
ReplyDeleteOh dear! That sounds like the sort of excitement one doesn't necessarily want. On the other hand, that dress is way too fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is BEAUTIFUL! I bet that was awkward. I had a boyfriend in the 5th grade that I technically never broke up with... If we ever met I think I would run full speed in the opposite direction ;)
ReplyDeleteYour dress is gorgeous! But OMG that interaction sounds SO awkward. I assume part of the problem was how much alcohol he imbibed. My friend apologizes for EVERYTHING when he drinks. Especially silly things that happened WEEKS ago.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so gorgeous. You managed to somehow make a 1920's flapper look so chic and modern!

ReplyDeletexoxo mama wolf.
I love that story because I, too, had a blast from the past and ran into my high school boyfriend randomly on the subway in the middle of New York City on New Year's Eve! You look great though and it sounds so fun!
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic in that lacy frock of yours!
ReplyDeleteAw, exes - always an awkward fail on my end - glad you look it so gracefully, plus it probably helped than you looked smokin!
What a fantastic dress, you look so great in lace and with a headband! Looks like a really fun time despite the awkward ex interaction! I had a similar run in with someone at my 10 year reunion, so weird!
ReplyDeleteYou look good girl! Love that dress!! I know it was probably uber annoying having that little run in with your ex, but wasn't it just a little nice running into him looking so good and being so happy with your Husband? Nice to rub it in on what he missed out on, right?! :p
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

I love all of your clothes. I also love how you try to remember how old something is. So funny. My clothes are mostly just in the "older than dirt" category! Thanks for finding my blog!

ReplyDeleteInna! You look FABULOUS in your 20s themed dress! Just gorgeous! I'm sure that's why the old bf wanted to give you a hard time about still liking him. Anyways, Happy New Year! :)
