For the past few months,
my best friend has been trying to convince me that a guy we supposedly hung out with in high school is real. Because apparently for some reason I've totally and completely blocked him from my memory. And despite the, um, distinguishing features she's mentioned (bowl cut, wearing a red jersey every single day, and significant B.O.) I could not, and cannot, for the the life of me remember him. But there's more. Supposedly this
figment of her imagination guy was in love with
another best friend of mine when we were in high school, and tonight she found a love letter he wrote to her back in the day. I know we're going to sound like horrible people, but reading that letter tonight gave me some of the best laughs I've had in months. You guys, there was a bit of everything teenage angst you could want-- knights (spelled nights) in shining armor saving their damsel in distress, castles with metaphorical walls being broken down, shakespearean quotes, and even biblical references. Apparently he was Adam, and very tempted by the forbidden fruit that she was. For realz.

ReplyDeleteIn high school a friend of mine received a similar letter from an admirer, and while I was jealous then I'm sure it would be hilarious to me now.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny when we look back at high school stuff - so much angst! It's always fun to reminisce.
Such a funny story. It is (sometimes lol) so much fun to reminisce about those awkward years. I am seriously loving your outfit. The blouse, skirt, and blazer are all amazing!! -Dreama

This is a wonderful outfit. It's so flattering and beautiful and I love the colors and textures. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love your story about the imaginary guy. I feel that way a lot. I swear my face has never changed and people recognize me from like third grade and I'm always so confused.
I love this skirt and this blazer! I have reread a few things that I wrote back in high school and OMG the ANGST and the EMOTIONS. A friend of mind got a similarly awkward love letter in high school.
ReplyDeleteit's always funny to remember the puppy love days, and some of the silly things that people do. I lost touch with my first crush, haha...he probably has a pot belly by now. Great outfit by the way, I like the contrast of fabrics and textures, nice color combo too. Happy new year!
