I feel like we should get this started on the right foot. So, ladies, behold:
You see this absolute specimen of perfection right here? This universally flattering cut, beautiful print, and twirl-inducing dress is The Millie, designed by the she's-so-talented-I-might-have-to-kidnap-her-but-oh-wait-if-I-did-that-she-couldn't-design-anymore-and-I-couldn't-get-any-of-her-stuff Emily Hallman. I was first turned on to Emily's designs when Kelsey posted an outfit of her wearing The Millie here. After seeing how beautiful the dress was and reading her interview with Emily, I headed over to check out Emily's site. And, well, I was mesmerized. I mean, c'mon, how could you not want to wear these beauties?
New Years dress anyone? |
A beautiful holiday party look |
Yet another |
And oh, a third! |
Can you imagine how fabulous I would feel walking around in this? Let me break it down for you. F.a.b.u.l.o.u.s. With a capital F. |
What I loved most from Emily's website, aside from the stunning pieces of course, was the following bit: "If you would like to discuss your size with Emily before placing your order, please do not hesitate to email info@emilyhallman.com or emily@emilyhallman.com... The fact is, there's no standardization in women's sizes. A U.S. size 4 from one designer could be an 8 or a 2 from another designer. Emily understands this, and has gone out of her way to make her sizing as universally accommodating as possible. The Emily Hallman brand is a brand for women, and has been cut to allow for a healthy body." Hallelujah. Consistent with this philosophy, Emily stocks missy sizes 0-12, petite sizes 4-10, and plus sizes 16-26. And if you're unsure what size is right for you, Emily will have you send your measurements to her so she can produce the garment based on your specific needs. For a shorty and fairly petite girl like me, that's invaluable, as I know it will be for so many others who often don't fit into standard sizing.
I emailed Emily to let her know how much I loved her designs, and within a matter of hours received an incredibly gracious and sweet reply. When I emailed back with a few questions I had, I again received the same wonderful treatment.
I want to make one thing clear: I am not getting anything in return for writing this post. I just found an independent designer whose clothes I fell in love with, and wanted to share that with you. Emily has generously offered one Skippy Says reader a 30% off coupon their entire order valid for anything from her shop. All you have to do to enter is:
1. Follow Skippy Says on Google Friend Connect
2. Go to Emily's website and let me know which garment you love most
That's it! You have until December 31st to enter. Good luck! And enjoy looking at all the pretty things! I know I did.
Edited to add: Emily is having a major sale today! All fall and holiday samples on sale for 50% off! Check it out: http://www.emilyhallman.com/sale/
