Skippy Says: If At First You Don't Succeed (OOTD)

Since I got such a positive response on the last outfit Ryan hated, I figured why not continue with the trend and post another? You guys, he really hated this one. So much so, in fact, that I had to twist his arm to photograph me in it. And by twist his arm I mean give him a noogie and wear it on three separate days, threatening that I'd keep wearing it around him until he gave in. Apparently all the pieces are nice individually, but don't go together. Little did I know, ladies. Little did I know.

  1. How do those pieces not go together? I think you look adorable! I love the berry and brown colors together.

  3. Thanks Kim! Apparently there is too much going on, an there is an elegance in simplicity I have yet to understand :)

  4. I have a pair of shorts similar to this, but in black. My boyfriend absolutely HATES them. I've completely given up wearing them out with him I'm so tired of hearing about it. I wear them when I go out with my girlfriends instead.
And I think you look adorable! (What do boys know about fashion anyway?!)

  7. Thanks Lisa! I don;t think it's the skirt so much that he hates, but the whole outfit combination. But you're right, boys don';t know anything :)

  8. Haha, at least your boy gives you his honest opinion. My husband literally says, "I will only ever tell you that you look beautiful, because to me, it's always true."... Yea, that may seem sweet, but it does NOTHING for me when I need help deciding what to wear haha! I really like your maroon tights :)

  10. LOVE this outfit!! And, I seriously JUST bought that blouse yesterday at the Loft. I am obsessed with it and think it looks great with red hair ;)

  11. Like the bold tights + the brown and blue. :)
This post made me smile. There are certain things the Mr. inexplicably loathes - such as any dress with pockets, my ruffled turquoise jacket, and my floral shrug. I wore the jacket last night and he actually offered to take me shopping to buy some new clothes he likes better. Guys can be strange sometimes.

  17. You're right, that is sweet but not very helpful :) But you know what? Ryan has said he doesn't like many outfits I think are cute, which isn't too helpful either :)

Hah. My husband tells me the same thing. Just because our friends think its cute doesn't mean that men do. Whatever. It's cute.

  28. Thanks ladies! It was so good seeing you at the Madewell event again Britt, and so nice to finally meet you Whit :)

  29. Hehe, thanks. I try to dress in stuff he likes most of the time, but sometimes I have to put my foot down :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Absolutely! It was only like $20, and is super cute and versatile!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks! I invested in a few pairs and am getting tons of use out of them, so definitely go for it!

  32. Thanks Ly! Lol. I like pleasing Ryan when i can, but sometimes I have to put my foot down :)

  37. Cute blog! I love this outfit! I am now a loyal follower due to your cute outfits! I also blog about a lot of Anthro clothes over at http://savoryandsuede.blogspot.com/

  38. You crack me up! (For some reason, I initially typed "you crack me down"... which doesn't make any sense... or does it? I dunno... too much thinking...)

Anyway, silly buoys. They just don't know a good outfit when they see one. I came out of the room wearing a baggy dress the other day, and Mr. CP asked me why I was wearing a belted sack. Apparently once a fascist, always a fascist.

  39. Your outfit is so cute and fun!! How come Ryan doesn't like it? I think you look adorable!!

  40. Hi! Love the blog!! So glad you stopped by mine so I could come check it out! And I see nothing wrong with the outfit :) It's adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Inna...while this outfit may seem a bit much to you to wear out in public, it has a very editorial feel! The coat, the patterned blouse and skirt, belt, and also the shoes, you'd think this came straight out of the Anthropologie lookbook.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hehe, thanks Shea! I'll pass the message along :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Aw, thanks! Can't wait to check your blog out!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Haha. Well Mr. CP and Ryan have that in common :) Which is good because I like my man to get along with my friends' men :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks!! He said "it doesn't match or go together." And might have asked if I got dressed in the dark :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks so much Bessie! I didn't feel like too much wearing it, But Ryan sure thought I should have :) I don't think he likes the anthro catalogues very much though, so that makes sense!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Haha. I have outfits my husband hates too. But I don't believe that things have to "go together" I like this outfit and it is very individual.

  48. Thanks Rachel! I'm with you- I hate matchy matchy outfits!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'd maybe change to skirt to a neutral (like taupe or brown) but keep everything else. It's not matchy matchy and it sure as hell is original. Your coat is beautiful, FYI - bring it out more!

  50. Thanks Anna! It's not usually cold enough in SF for it (I bought it when I was living in Boston) but I love when I egt to bust it out!
