Skippy Says: Black Friday 2011 (OOTD)

Alright friends, I've held you in suspense long enough. I know you all haven't been able to sleep wondering how my first ever Black Friday shopping experience went. Don't worry, you'll finally be able to rest easy tonight.

So, basically, in a nutshell, it was a.w.e.s.o.m.e. The night before was less awesome-- my tummy hurt from eating too much food. Specifically mashed potatoes. And maybe that extra last piece of pie. I had my alarm set to 5:00 am, but woke up at 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 4:15, and 4:30 before I finally resigned myself and got up. Not a good start to the day. But then, oh then, I arrived at Anthropologie. Because you know their extra 50% off all sale items is what got my butt in gear to finally do Black Friday. And I scored so many awesome things that all the tummy aches and lack of sleep didn't matter anymore. Like this blouse. This amazingly beautiful, 100% silk blouse, for $30. Yeah baby. That's what I'm talkin' about.

p.s.- I have decided not to do a big post with all my Black Friday finds because I think that would be rather overwhelming. Let's just say Ryan had to come to the rescue midway through to help me carry bags. Instead, I'll note at the bottom of my post if something was a Black Friday find and how much it cost. Kapisch?

  3. Good for you, pairing those green jeans with a shirt that has no green in it. It's all about complimenting, not matching! I was in my wee little hometown on Black Friday, which is woefully lacking an Anthro store. No sales for me :(

  20. Nice! I didn't realize Anthropologie was doing a Black Friday deal, which is probably a good thing, because, contrary to popular belief, I do value my money, and I like when my checking account balance is in the positives. But I completely envy your blouse!

  21. That blouse is very nice! Wow, only $30??? You can't even get clothes at Mandees for that cheap anymore. lol

  29. So glad you found some beautiful items! I ended up deciding to shop Anthro's sale online, which was fine until they cancelled my order 5 hours after I placed it. Apparently everything I had chosen was already sold out, but the site hadn't updated itself. I was a grumpy gills. BUT my closet and bank account are a happy gills, because now the former won't explode from all the extra clothes, and the latter won't be so empty that we have to eat cat food for the rest of the month! Hooray!

  30. Gorgeous! So cute with those jeans! Sounds like it was very worth it :)

I dearly wish we had black friday here in Hungary. :D

  32. I absolutely adore your kelly green pants!! I have been pinning to get a pair of cobalt blue ones for a while, but might need to add green ones onto the list too (:

  33. What a fun look for black Friday! I usually see people in their PJs, so I'm glad not everyone dressed like they just woke up...because they probably did.

Also, that sucks. One thing I ordered online got cancelled too :(

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thanks Madeline!! One year you'll have to come- you can come to my house for Thanksgiving and then the next day we can shop together :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes, green pants are awesome! And I just cobalt blue ones too :)

  42. Oh I didn't actually wear this on Black Friday. I bought the shirt and bag on Black Friday. I just wore jeans with a semi-cute top and booties on Friday :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thanks Tracy! I'm not straying far from color anytime soon :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh, sorry for the confusion, I didn't wear this on Friday. I bought the top and bag on Friday. Sorry you didn't get to go this year :(

  48. Sadly, no Anthro sales for this girl. I probably need to put a moratorium on shopping anyways. I can hardly fit anything else in my closet and I have more outfits planned than I can blog about ;)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I cannot believe this was $30 the top is beautiful! I can't wait to see what else you bought, some of my twitter friends told me they shopped anthro online but had their orders cancelled...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thanks Bessie!! I actually had one of my online orders from Anthro cancelled too which was a major bummer :( I hope they'll make up for it somehow...

  51. Love that blouse! Jealous that you got to shop the amazing Anthro Black Friday sale :) So glad you found so many goodies!

  53. Thanks Katherine! Maybe next year we can go together if you'd be willing to brave the crowds after that Saks experience of yours :)

  54. I love the top. It's very Skippy - loud, vibrant, and a whole lot of fun :) Your pairing with green is very well done - I don't think I'd think of that. And $30 for Anthro is unheard of. That place is a money sucker otherwise.

You know, Numi is terribly afraid of the outdoors. Refuses to take walks so we have to force the horrible hound out of the house. Sigh... do you have any tips?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks Anna, I'll take that as a compliment :) And don't be scared of anthro- I frequently get things there for $30, and even $20 and $10- I just stick to the sale rack!

And that's so weird about Numi! I don't have any suggestions except a lot of praising and treats when she does go outdoors. Honestly I'd probably drag her out, and then praise her like crazy and give her tons of treats when you were out there- hopefully eventually it'll stick!

  56. Wow I can't believe you braved BF shopping in SF, looked pretty crazy there on the news with all the protesters. At least you scored some good stuff. Love that top!

  59. The same thing happened to me. I ate too much and my stomach was KILLING me. I slept maybe 1.5 hours before I got up to hit the black Friday deals.
I love your green skinnies with the printed blouse. This is a fun outfit. Me likey!
