Skippy Says: Room To Grow (OOTD)

Did anyone else struggle with what to wear on Thanksgiving? It's such a delicate balance. On the one hand, I want to look put together and cute. On the other, I want to wear big, comfortable clothes that have room for my belly to expand as I load myself full of mashed potatoes. And this year, I had to have two meals full of mashed potato (and stuffing, and pie) goodness-- an afternoon one with Ryan's family, and an evening one with mine, so the clothes had to be extra roomy. I know, I know, it's amazing I can keep on smiling when I have such tough problems in my life. Good thing this skirt is at least a size too big, even it was feeling tight by the end of the festivities. And the shirt inadvertently ended up being a great choice too-- not only was it loose, but the pattern was interesting enough to distract people so I could snatch up the last piece of pie. Oh yes I did. "Hey, Aunt Lorraine, look at the pretty birdies." Yoink. Skippy: 1; Aunt Lorraine and Pie: 0.

p.s.- Black Friday update coming tomorrow. Spolier alert: It rocked.

  5. Super cute! And I agree, it's hard to dress for Thanksgiving! I ended up going with a loose dress :)

  6. Love your outfit and combination of vibrant colors! I've always picked comfort over looking sleek when it comes to enjoying a feast. In the summer, I love to wear my elastic waist band maxi skirt when I head out for a great meal!!

  15. Thanks!! Comfort is definitely key for me too. Unfortunately elastic waist stuff looks horrible on my 95% of the time :(

  19. You look so fun and bright! Sounds like the perfect balance for a holiday meal. I'm always struggling for that perfect balance between 'comfy & cute' at family occasions too. Also way to go, Black Friday sales scare the pants off me, I like to just sleep in & let everyone else do the worrying, looking forward to your finds.

  23. I love this blouse - you look great with that vibrant pattern. My mom made Russian potato salad and you can bet I had seconds and thirds of it. My mom makes her dishes low or reduced fat so I didn't feel guilty about my extra helpings. I can't wait to see your Black Friday deals!

  24. I love your sunny yellow skirt, it's perfect to brighten up the dark fall days (though it looks like it was a pretty clear day when you wore it :P) It also makes me think of the yellow roses I posted on Friday :P And I have to say that I love your boots...I have an affinity for both brown boots and suede boots and these are just incredible!

  30. You mix and match colors so beautifully! I love the bright print of the top with the mustard skirt and the cute tights and boots. I went the comfortable route and wore a cute top, jeggings and boots. After my uncomfy birthday meal back in October, comfort is #1 when serious eating is involved!
