Well, my first day nannying has come and gone, and I'm happy to report that I did not kill the baby. The lesson here is clear kids: keep your expectations low, and you won't be disappointed.
Some other valuable lessons I learned:
1. The baby is so freaking cute that you will want to squeeze her. Hard. That's probably not a good idea.
2. My biceps do not produce milk no matter how much the baby tries to suckle on them. This makes me feel strangely inadequate.
3. While wearing brown is not a bad idea, you may want to match your top more to the color of the baby's spit up. Just take my word for it.
After my less than fashionable work outfit, I was itching to get back into clothes that had more color and less bodily function stains. Who's to say you can't dress up for a night in?
Shop:
- Banana Republic outlet top (bought on sale circa 2010, no longer available)

ReplyDeleteThanks Steph! Yeah I thought the bag was a great find :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Bessie! You never know exactly how it'll be when you get it off Ebay, but I was pleased with this one :)
ReplyDeleteLol, glad I'm not alone :)
ReplyDeletePoint #2 made me burst out laughing! Hahaha - the visual image is priceless. I love the blues :)
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA Skippy! Laughing at your biceps comment girl! LOL Sounds like it was a "fab" time. And...ooh ooh oooooh...loving all that BLUE! That purse is gorgeous and adoring your scarf too. I also like that blazer! The pinstripes in it are very nice. Have a good one! :D

Thanks Katherine! Yeah my very wet bicep less amused :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim!! It was a really fun time :)
ReplyDeleteSo funny! Babies don't know any better. They just want milk period. As for blogger budgets, I agree that's it's "normal" to have $500 shoes, which is sad. My limit is $100 for shoes, but I prefer to stay under $50. I also have 6-figure student loans, so why would I put myself in that position?
ReplyDeleteLove your green pants ! Such a chic outfit ! Love it !

I was chuckling so hard at your comments. So true! The minute my little girl turned 3, I just wanted to throw all my stained mommy clothes into the bonfire and watch them burn!
ReplyDeletethank you for your kind comment

Oh, I know that spit upon look all too well. My second baby enjoyed spewing spitup on me as soon as I put something clean on, so I just learned to rock the puked look. =)
ReplyDeleteI love your green jeans! And the blazer is awesome!

They don't, but I felt so bad! I tried to give her the bottle and she had a little but then didn't want anymore- only wanted to suck on my bicep :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI don't have little ones of my own yet, but just form nannying I can already tell I'm going to be wanting to do the same!
ReplyDeletesure :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tiffany! I'm sure you rocked the puked look beautifully :)
ReplyDeleteUrban outfitters- go get them! And sure :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Anna! I lusted after the anthropologie ones for a while, and JBrand has some great ones too, but they were all too expensive. I settled on cheaper pairs from urban outfitters (these green ones) and zara (red ones) and although they're not exactly what i wanted, I'm still pretty happy with them!
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Shea- I don't know about great but she's still alive so I'm happy :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I learned that the hard way :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the colors in this outfit! I have green jeans, too, and find them hard to match sometimes! I've spent plennnty of time around little kiddies, so I can totally relate!

Love your outfit, the scarf and earrings are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your sweet words Silvia!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I find the green jeans hard to style sometimes too- I tend to go with another bold color when I'm feeling BAM or a more muted top like this one when I want to be a bit more understated or sophisticated :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteCute purse and love the color of those jeans!
ReplyDeleteYour too hilarious!! Great job on your first day!! I wish my kids could have a sweet nanny like you (they are past the spit up age, so you can wear brown) And I totally agree that after a day surrounded in diapers and spit up, you need to dress up to keep your sanity!! And you did a great job dressing up. You look so sassy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much for your sweet words Sayaka! I'd love to nanny for your kids :)
ReplyDeleteNice look! I love the color of your pants!

ReplyDeleteYour description of being a nanny/baby sitter is pretty accurate lol! I also baby-sit a baby girl to make ends meet (ah, student life!) and often I feel like taking her home with me haha! :)
ReplyDeletelovely outfit and blog, I'm following!
jo from slowcatharsis.blogspot.com
Aw, thank you so very much Cindy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo!! I totally know what you mean- I've only nannyed for one day and already fell in love with her and wanted to take her home. Something tells me her parents would not appreciate that though :)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is absolutely amazing! Please teach me how to tie my scarves like that?! Please? :D
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know.... because I could totally recreate this look with things in my closet. I love your green/teally pants. I have pink ones that I am obsessed with! You look so good!
Thank you so much Courtney!! I so wish I could do a tutorial, but truth is I have no idea how- I just played around with it until I thought it looked like it was tied kinda cute :) I'll try to recreate it though!
ReplyDeleteAwww nooo! Haha, that's okay... Once you learn.. teach me? :D
