I'm that girl that used to ask for a hall pass during math class so I could leave and go cry in the bathroom if I did not understand something the teacher was explaining. Truth is, I don't do too well with being bad at things. And I'm bad at math. Well, 95% of the time anyway. The other 5% something clicks, everything suddenly makes perfect sense, and I'm convinced I want to "be a calculist when I grow up." And for those of you who don't know what a "calculist" is, it's a person that does calculus stuff. DUH.
When I was in law school, I studied pretty much every second I wasn't sleeping. What? I didn't want to be bad at it. It made for a fabulous first year of marriage, just aks Ryan. After turning in a particularly long and painfully boring brief, I rewarded myself with a quick stop by Urban Outfitters on the way home. What I really needed was a hug, but Ryan was at work, so this cozy flannel shirt was the next best thing I could get.

Isn't it funny how certain clothes remind you of a time in your life? I have so many clothes that have memories attached to them. Plaid and red is so fun together! Heather
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for plaid, so I love that shirt!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm now following you too; #81st follower!
See you around.

Great outfit! I'm also not very good at accepting being bad at something.
ReplyDeleteInna, I have no idea why the hell I have never read your About Me section. Holy Moly malonkers. It's decided. You and I are now BFF. I freaking suck at math, which is so stupid because everyone thinks Asians are great in math. I made it up to Calc 2 and then decided that things were getting silly, and I didn't need to cry myself to sleep every night because of my horrid math scores. Things were much better after this realization. and cosy. as cosy as that flannel shirt.
ReplyDeletethis red skirt is so pretty! and hate feeling like i'm bad at something... it just makes me work twice as hard until i'm good at it. :)
ReplyDeletecute & little
Nice! those plaid looks great!

Thanks Kate!!
ReplyDeleteLol, thanks CIndy! And with me I don't think it's discipline, more like a disorder :) Good luck on your test!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it is! And hey, if you can get by studying at the last minute, that's awesome. If it works, it works :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cecylia!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! I absolutely have a really strong memory attached to almost every piece of clothing I own. And you know what's odd? Now that Ryan and I have been together for over 8 years, I bought almost every piece of clothing I own while we were dating/married, so I also have a memory attached about how he reacted to each piece when I showed it to him :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have one too many a plaid shirt :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cara :) It really is!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dawn! The socks are definitely wonderful-- along with the coat it was a cozy kinda day :) I'm only nannying part time so I haven't watched the baby since Wednesday, but I'll absolutely keep you posted!
ReplyDeleteLOL- bet you did! I lost weight the first 2 weeks of law school too- couldn't eat anything. But then it quickly came back :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your kind words!
Thank you so much Teresa! Lol @ the communications major because you were bad at math :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jaclyn! These are by far my favorite pair of little booties. I've been ont he hunt for ones just as cute in either a black/gray or a bright color, and no luck so far :(

ReplyDeleteLol, thanks! But I'm not in law school anymore- did not return after my first year...
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! Glad to know I'm not alone :)
ReplyDeleteLOL Laura- I'll tell my current BFF she's been replaced :) I (sadly) totally know what you mean about crying yourself to sleep when you don't understand something (ugh- contracts). So glad you stopped doing what was wrong for you and are much cosier and happier now :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kileen! That's exactly what I do- keep working until I get it, but I often end up driving myself crazy in the process :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kaye!!
ReplyDeleteLoving the flannel shirt!
ReplyDeleteI love your bright red skirt!
ReplyDeleteI hate that I wasn't super great at math either. I ask myself all the time why can't I be like all the other asian kids...hahahaha..

A flannel shirt like this is on my wish list! We want to do a road trip (next summer? I'm not exactly sure when) to Montana and visit a ranch, so I NEED a shirt like this! You look adorable.
ReplyDeleteI think making it to Calc 2 is pretty impressive! That's how bad *I* am at math (but I'm only half Asian so was only held to half the standards...LOL).
ReplyDeleteI love the dressed up flannel. I'm bad at math too. And I mean awful. I admire people like you who just try harder when they are bad at something. I give up.
ReplyDeleteI'm horrible at math too! HAHA Your flannel shirt is awesome. I love the colors of the plaid and how you paired it with a great color skirt. Those booties are wicked! Wooot Have a great weekend Skippy! ((HUG))

Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI love that you tell a story behind your outfits. LOL. You never fail to make me chuckle at your comments. As for math, I'm not the greatest but thankfully, not the worst. Thankfully, I never had to do calculus. My worst subject was accountancy. My high school teacher said that I was his first student to ever achieved a perfect 0 in his entire 30 teaching career :P I couldn't answer a single question right. hahaha...
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!
ReplyDeleteAnd the skirt is a real steal!!!
