How about I just keep revealing really embarrassing things about myself? Sound good?
When I was little, though older than I'd care to admit publicly so I'll keep it vague (sound familiar?), I used to be a tad obsessed with The Babysitter's Club series. And the Backstreet Boys, but that's a whole different can of worms. The only thing I'm going to say about that is that they were way better than N Sync. Period. Don't you argue with me.
Back in my Babysitter's Club and Backstreet Boys lovin' days (ok, fine, there is still a special place in my heart for the Backstreet Boys) I used to totally rock a jean jacket like this one. And because I'd like to disassociate my style now from my style back then as much as possible, I haven't worn a jean jacket in many years. But after seeing so many bloggers rocking them lately, I couldn't help hankering for one myself. And unlike leopard print and faux fur, this is so totally me. I guess my style hasn't changed as much as I'd like to think.

ReplyDeleteI'm starting to see that- you'll probably see me rocking mine all the time now too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Teresa! I like Leonardo DiCaprio myself :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy!!
ReplyDeleteI was obsessed with the Babysitter's Club, too, and still have a couple jean jackets I love to death. Awesome pics!
ReplyDeleteOh em gee. the BSB! both babysitters club and backstreet boys! i loved them both. I always wanted to be Claudia because she's Asian and was super fashionable. Also because she had a lot of candy and junk stashed everywhere in her room! Unlike you, the denim jacket is just not something I think I can pull off anymore! I actually had to give away my glitter denim (vestige of youth) jacket last week because I couldn't pair it with anything!
ReplyDeleteWOW memories!!! Hahaha, I used to LOVE the backstreet boys! Ahh weren't the 90's the best?!
ReplyDeleteAnyway...as always, you look fabulous, Skippy! :)) I love the denim jacket. I especially love how you paired it with skirt and boots...one of my favorite looks. Making everything old, new again!
Happy Monday,
Tammy
Maybe I shouldn't be revealing this either...but when I was little, I used to play 'imaginary house' with my friend Sara, and Nick from BSB would always be my husband and she's pick AJ.
ReplyDeleteHaha, oh the 90's were such fun times!
Love this look, and yesterdays layering was great as well!
We really love your outfit! You are so gorgeous! We love your style! By the way, we truly agree with you that the Backstreet Boys were really better than N Sync! High five, girl. :)
ReplyDeleteMuch love from the SABO SKIRT girls!

LOL! I remember the days of Backstreet Boys. You've got to admit - their songs are rather catchy :P I've stuffed my denim jacket right to the back of the drawers. Since you've managed to rock it, I should dust it off and give it another go.
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! Glad to see another Babysitter's Club fan!
ReplyDeleteI loved Claudia too!! She was clearly the coolest one :) And that's a bummer about your jacket- I think you totally could have rocked a glittery denim jacket!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Tammy!! The 90s were pretty great indeed :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelly! I loved Nick too when I was younger! And then when I "matured" I moved on to Brian ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks girls! And yeah, it's clearly no contest ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks- it was pretty comfy!
ReplyDeletethanks :) i've been trying to tell my husband that but he doesn't agree :) clearly he's just jealous of my love for the backstreet boys
ReplyDeleteThanks Mirjam!

ReplyDeleteHa ha I know that Backstreet Boy mania- I had it too. Well we were young and didn't know any better!! Besides some of their videos were entertaining.

Uh oh...Hard core NSYNC luvah here...BSB didn't hold a candle to them. Ha! Love your scarf!
ReplyDeleteOH did I love the babysitter's club! My favorite character was Claudia...do you think I am a modern day Claudia? The only difference between her and I was that she is Japanese and was bad at math. I am Chinese and can do math :) but we loved fashion! As for the bsb...seriously Inna??? Ugh you may be losing a fan...JK! I actually was a huge fan of 98 degrees! Nick Lachey...ooooo I still can't believe Vanessa got him before I did! He is missing out! You rock that jean jacket missy, I have two actually and one is from the undergrad days...probably around the time u were a fan of BSB, I am 30 btw ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are so pretty! Did you eat dry Mr Noodles too, all crunched up, for lunch when you went to school? Was that only me? It was THE thing to do.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful! I really love this outfit! I'm a huge fan of Jean Jackets though. I have to tell myself to wear other things. I think it's my first go to every time I go to leave the house.
I was a huuuuuuge BSB fan... You're not alone!
From one Babysitter's Club fan to another, great outfit of the day! I love all of the colors and textures included in this one look. That bow belt is adorable, and I love the subtle silver thread in the scarf and those great earrings. Awesome look!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely!!! the skirt is great, love the pattern!

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Bessie, but I did love BSB it's true! And I'm almost 26, so don't feel too old :) Glad to hear you were a BSC fan- Claudia was my favorite too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Courtney! Glad I've got another BSB fan in the house! I never heard of dry Mr. Noodles, but that delicious in an oh so horrible way :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Cara! Yay for another BSC fan!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! It's actually a chemise, but I wore it as a skirt :)
ReplyDeleteKeep the embarrassing revelations coming! Ha, I do the same thing, so it makes me feel better to know that someone else is doing it too! And can we start a Babysitter's Club fan club? I'm all in.

ReplyDeleteAh the backstreet boys...those were the days. Your outfit is adorable by the way.
ReplyDeleteYes they were :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbling upon your blog and I'm so glad. You are so fun to read and your outfits are adorable. I was a HUGE fan of the babysitter's club. I started reading it in 2nd grade and didn't quit until highschool haha. I have been hesitant about jean jackets too because of wearing them back then as well, but I like you have a desire for one now.

Thanks Alexandra!!
ReplyDeleteI was inseparable from my jean jacket from age about 11 to 15. I should so get one now.
ReplyDeleteBSC books were my addiction. I still have them all in a box at my mom's house. Never could manage to let go of them! I stopped reading around #100 though. Stacey was my favorite because she was from glamorous NYC and I was stuck in, what then seemed to me, utterly unglamorous Mississippi!
You should definitely get one! Glad to have another BSC fan in the house :)
