Skippy Says: Tradition (OOTD)

For as long as I can remember, my family and I have always had Sunday brunch together. And every single week, we have the same thing: a baked potato; smoked salmon, various cheeses; and a simple salad made of cucumbers, bell peppers, and tomatoes dressed with olive oil and white vinegar. I know, I know, it's Russian and weird, but this is the brunch food that makes my mouth water. Over the years, I've perfected my technique: I cut the potato in half, scoop out the flesh, line the skin with smoked salmon, scoop in salad, and top my little "potato boat" off with evenly distributed sprinkles of feta cheese. That evenly distributed part is key-- thanks OCD.

After brunch last weekend, my mom and I wandered over to a SF vintage sidewalk sale. I scored a few awesome pieces, including this purse and the blouse you see below. Overall, a Sunday well spent.

Shop:
- Vintage blouse (from SF vintage sidewalk sale- $5!)
- Gap white cami underneath blouse (bought on sale, no longer available. Buy similar here)
- Anthropologie skirt (Bought brand new on ebay for $10! No longer available)
- Anthropologie shoes (Bought on sale for $40. No longer available)

  8. Fist off, I LOVE your shoes. Second off, Sunday Brunch is not weird at all. I'm 100% Sicilian and every Sunday we have "Sunday Gravy". This consists of pounds of pasta, all different kinds of meats, antipasto and a bunch of other delicious treats. We eat ALL of this at about 2pm. It's our family time :)

  23. Ooh, I'm loving this shirt! I like seeing bloggers in functional, multipurpose pieces such as this blouse as opposed to trendy clothes that don't even last the season. It inspires me to recycle my clothes!

  24. Oooooooooh I love this look so much! So soft and romantic and goes so well with your soft curls! I love tradition as well, I think it's so important to keep some things the same and sacred so you know you always have that to hold onto :)

  26. SF vintage sidewalk sale? Why am I not in the loop about these things so close to home? Is there some sort of mailing list I need to be on?

Love that shirt. Super cute and versatile. Can't wait to see how you remix it. Those shoes are gorgeous and what a steal for shoes at Anthro.

  33. I can't believe you scored this blouse for $5! I love the detailing, it gives it such a feminine touch. I must admit though your shoes are my favorite part of this outfit hands down. Love them!

  34. All the different colors in this outfit are beautiful together. So angelic, so pretty.

  35. I thought mustard yellow too but when i tried it I didn't like it...not sure if it was the color or the shirt though. I think hunter green would be really nice- i'll have to try that! And purple too, though surprisingly I don't own any purple shirts. Guess I'll just have to suck it up and get one :)

  36. Thanks so much Laura! We always have our brunch pretty late b/c sleeping in on Sunday is very important :)

  40. Thanks Anna! I definitely don't have too many trendy pieces and think pieces like feminine blouses are such better investments- I can see loving this blouse 5 or 10 years down the road

  41. Thanks Abby!! Yeah, traditions are really important to me too. I drive my husband crazy sometimes because they're so important that I'm not willing to be too flexible about breaking them and doing something different one Sunday morning, but I love them

  42. Sorry Tracy- I'll let you know next time! I got a flyer about it when I went to the SF vintage expo. There should be another one in a few months, and I'll make sure to post an announcement on my blog :)
Thanks for the compliments on the blouse and shoes! I'm thinking the shirt will be good tucked into some jeans (maybe even colored ones).

  43. Thanks you so much for your kind words Amy! So glad you loved SF- I almost take it personally when people don't ;) Hope you'll come back and visit soon!

And that Russian brunch sounds amazing! It's so funny what we learn to love. I recently went to NY to visit family, and I could not stop myself from eating all the Chinese food - it's just not the same in TX.
